Goal Shifting

Most people hire a coach for accountability.

The ones who actually transform are after something they can’t quite name yet.

It comes down to one question: are your fitness goals things you should do — fix the scale, the mirror, the doctor’s note — or things you actually want to feel?

Energized at 3pm. Strong on the trail. Like a badass in your own body.

Same body. Completely different engine. When the goal is something you crave instead of something you manage, you stop needing to be forced.

I have a name for how I walk clients through that flip, and a story about the 40-year-old who stopped believing workouts had to suck to work.
Both are below 👇

“GOAL SHIFTING”
A story about the 40-year-old who stopped believing workouts had to suck to work …

She came to me wanting structure, new PRs in her lifts, and relief from knee pain and low back tightness. All valid goals. But then she shared something deeper — she had completely transformed her relationship with food by slowing down, listening to her body, and getting passionate about where her food came from. She was proud of that shift. But exercise? Still a chore. She believed you had to kind of hate it to get results, and she'd been willing to settle for that — until now.

What she really wanted was to crave movement every day and feel energized in both body and mind.

NOW we had a bigger goal and dove in, head first. The plan we created was 100% oriented around this objective. She now had a tangible path forward, with structure and accountability as a feature, not the driver.

One month later …
She started to recognize that challenging workouts don't have to suck to produce results. That warming up, resting between sets, and cooling down actually makes workouts more effective and enjoyable. That at 40, her body was demanding her full attention — and when she listened, she could FEEL her goals coming to fruition. She was 100% bought in.

These shifts could never happen with accountability alone. They required a different intention — less "should," more curiosity and rewarding connection.
She didn't need someone to hand her a plan and move on. She needed someone to understand her body, her history, and her desires — and build from there. So that's exactly what we did.

In Carah’s own words:

After 40 years of taking care of my female body, I've learned that what it needs changes every few years.

I entered 40 not sleeping, 10 lbs heavier than I was used to, with nothing left in the tank to recover from a profound personal loss. So I started working with Kim.

First stop: a DEXA scan. And there it was... the 10 lbs I'd been punishing myself for was muscle. My lean mass came back "elite." The technician who read it literally told me I can't push it much higher without steroids.

Kim's advice was the opposite of everything I'd been taught -- A reverse diet. A few hundred more calories per day (!!) and more fiber.

A month later? I'm sleeping. Strong enough to add another workout a week.

Sometimes it takes a woman 10 years ahead of you to teach you how to read your own body. I know where I'm going now, and I know who I'm following to get there.

Cheers to 40. I celebrated by throwing my scale in the trash.
This is what coaching is supposed to feel like.

If you've been hesitant because you think an app can cover this, or you should be able to manage it yourself — you're selling yourself short. What you really want isn't on the other side of more structure. It's deep within you. I'm here to help you draw it out, connect with it, and make it happen.
